Turbocharger Inlet Pipe Collection

As outlined on the page introducing this effort, a number of turbocharger inlet pipe options for the MQB engine will be evaluated to determine airflow through the different parts.

Up first are inlet pipes from a stock Mk7 GTI, Audi Performance & Racing (APR), and Unitronic.

The stock and APR inlets are supplied by the author and the Unitronic was loaned by GolfMk7 forum member GolfRRRR.

Measurement of the inside diameters for each part inlet and outlet are summarized below.

Inlet / Outlet diameters (mm):

  • APR – 62.7/48.7
  • Stock – 61.9/47.6
  • Unitronic – 64.7/48.7

Each turbocharger inlet pipe was installed on the flowbench for taking measurements.

Note: The blue material is Play-Doh, used to ensure an airtight seal between the silicone hose and adapter plate.

Note: The stock inlet hose was adjusted during the test to be seated fully on the Unitronic inlet elbow.
